New BioVax Board Members Inducted to Propel Vaccine Manufacturing Vision

A comprehensive induction program held today at Mombasa Beach Hotel brought together the newly appointed board members of Kenya BioVax Institute Limited, marking the beginning of a transformative chapter in advancing vaccine manufacturing in Kenya. The event commenced with welcoming remarks and an opening address by Hon. Dr Mishra, Chair of the Board of Directors, who emphasized the board’s critical role in driving the Institute’s mission and aligning it with Kenya’s public health priorities. Designed to equip board members with a deep understanding of the Institute’s strategic objectives, the induction highlighted key milestones, including progress toward achieving World Health Organization (WHO) prequalification and fostering self-reliance in vaccine production. The program also clarified the board’s governance responsibilities, reinforcing the importance of informed and strategic decision-making.

A significant focus of the induction was on the potential of public-private partnerships (PPPs) to propel the Institute’s growth. Stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, international agencies, and private sector partners shared insights on leveraging collaborations to enhance funding, innovation, and operational capacity. Interactive sessions encouraged dialogue on sustainable production models, regulatory compliance, and research priorities, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in addressing vaccine accessibility.

With this induction, the board is poised to drive impactful decisions, ensuring the Institute’s mission of enhancing vaccine accessibility and making Kenya a leader in Africa’s vaccine manufacturing ecosystem.
