Kenya BioVax Welcomes IVI Kenya and AVEC Africa Offices as Milestone for Vaccine Self-Reliance

Kenya BioVax Institute Limited (KBI) congratulates the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and the Government of Kenya on the signing of the Host Country Agreement establishing the IVI Kenya Country and AVEC Africa Project Office in Nairobi, in a ceremony presided over by H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya.

This milestone marks a significant step in strengthening regional health security and advancing Africa’s vaccine research, development, and manufacturing capabilities. The establishment of the IVI Kenya Country Office and the Advancing Vaccine End-to-End Capabilities in Africa (AVEC Africa) Project Office reflects Kenya’s growing leadership in building a resilient, connected, and sustainable vaccine ecosystem.

As Kenya BioVax Institute, we welcome this development as a strategic boost to African-led innovation, local vaccine manufacturing, technology transfer, workforce development, and regional collaboration. We look forward to continued partnership with IVI, the Government of Kenya, and other key stakeholders in advancing vaccine equity, health security, and self-reliance across Kenya and Africa.

The Host Country Agreement was signed by Dr. Jerome H. Kim, Director General of IVI, and H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, presided by H.E. Dr. William S. Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya.
